Drain Clogs

If the drain clog is not to compacted in the pipe with the blockage close enough to the trap, then a sunction cup plunger should be able to free it.  You can get the most effect with your plunger by applying a thin layer of petroleum jelly on the rim of the plunger which will help to create a tighter seal between the plunger and the drain and aid in removing the drain clog.

Two main culprits, bits or pieces of soap and or hair frequently cause drain clogs in the bathroom.  With busy schedules and the amount of use the bathroom sink receives, it is quick to just run the water to dispel debris from the bathroom sink.  A quick qipe to remove hair and debris after use would help in preventing many blockages.

A plumbers auger or snake is sometimes required to remove a blockage.  It has also been suggested that running hot water for about a minute every day will also help to prevent drain clogs.
